Not for everyone, but the tracking doesn't matter/exist if you live in a location where the government either a) doesn't give a shit about you (think small island nations) or b) is too incompetent to collate or do anything with the information (think Argentina, Mexico etc).

While I fully agree that precious metals are a way to preserve wealth, I still scratch my head as to how holding a lot of it will help - aside from the obvious black market bartering that will occur...but even that is tough, how do you estimate fair exchange value after SHTF?
You still need to exchange PM into whatever is *accepted* for payment for big stuff. If your hopeful scenario re: trading PM into crypto is not viable, then what? If the govt’s goal is to wipe us all out, don’t you think they have a plan to outlaw the ownership or valuable exchange of PM? In hindsight, all the years of William Devane et al gold pushing now seems like an unwitting set up for a rug pull on PM. 🤷♀️

The silver and gold markets will still have global prices as most nations hold substantial reserves, and many central banks hold the reserves of smaller nations so that is continually priced. China and Russia have been hoarding gold the past decade. The price in the US would probably be set against FedCoin, I assume. Not sure how that would work after a collapse, but the value might skyrocket as people, especially the wealthy flee to metals for safe haven. And yes they could outlaw private ownership of metals or use as legal tender but many states have already passed laws approving it so it would be a federalist court showdown again. They did ban it 1933 (FDR exec order) so in an "emergency" of their own creation they could do that again. Not sure they can rug pull PM. They can certainly suppress prices as they've been doing for years, but during a dollar collapse or hyperinflation prior to a collapse, gold and silver could skyrocket based only on scarcity and extreme demand.
GC, not just ban gold and silver, but ban cash, or what's left of it when CBDC hits.

Which states are setting up their own banks?
Which states have passed laws that digital currency will be outlawed?
They well could outlaw PM ownership again. More concerning, even if they didn't outlaw as such, they still limit your ability to move it across borders. Transportability is severely impaired with PM, which is why Bitcoin is also important to hold.
