As a brass player myself, I keep playing (usually by myself) simply because there are songs I have written that only I can keep alive. They are like my friends, or my children. I live in Portland too. Maybe I will take up playing reveille, at 5 or 6 am, and see how long it takes for someone to call the police on me.
