All true. And remember, we have spent 2plus years engaged in Covid theatre, then Putin theatre, climate catastrophe theatre, and now Musk theatre. So, the viewpoint from my small chair at the back of the theatre is, I don’t care.

Why he didn't do it a year ago concerns me.

It would have been a lot more expensive. That's probably the only real reason.

18 billion of 50 billion is a lot of your wealth. 13b of 250b not so much.

Well, I still haven't got my fucking tax refund, so anybody with ONE billion is an Enemy in my world.

I wasn't expressing approval of billionaires. But I suspect your predicament is going to become more common.

Expand full comment

No, I didn't mean that. I meant that kind of money is so utterly beyond my experience as to be unimaginable to me. And to sort of say, badly, okay! that those who have billions are just as foreign (and suspect) as that much dough... And I'm wondering if the lack of my tax return is a plan, too... Wondered that before I sent the bastard paper in, wondered why we allow a "law" that was never ratified to steal our wages to begin with...

And don't leave out alllll the theater that's been going on since WWII...

Agree with you totally. The guy comes off as somewhat likable because he'll make a comment here and there against the collective, but you have to remember where his wealth comes from and if he wants to keep it, to whom he answers to. He may be allowed to pull their dog chains a little, but never too much. The "elites" can reel him in anytime they get ready.

Well, I don't tweet, don't facebook , don;t even utube, and haven't watched a TV in 12 years or so.

Made a decision back in 68 (after reading Vonnegut's Player Piano) to stay computer illiterate, and have managed to stick pretty darn close to that. Don't feel like I'm missing out on very much.

As for that stock market, my dad told me a real long time ago that the stock market was rigged to separate anyone not connected to an insider from their money. Might take a while, but it will.

Personal experience tells me my dad was a pretty smart guy.

Player Piano. Classic. You don't need it JVC. You've got a little piece of paradise to enjoy from a good rocking chair. That's all any man really needs.

Sometimes the stock market reminds me of casinos minus the whiz bang, uga uga when you get a hit. Gambling is gambling. Anyway, remember the saying "ignorance is bliss"; ignorance is peace is closer to the truth. Like you, for years I cut myself off from anything outside of my immediate reality. The "world" didn't know I existed and I didn't give a fig about it. Days turn into months, months into seasons and so on. You planted, you harvested, come fall and spring you hunted for food(obviously, not vegan). Life had a wonderful rhythm to it and this is the lifestyle we were created to live. This is the lifestyle our central nervous systems were designed for. Life and things change, but this world is not the change I imagined, but it is our collective reality now. Because prayer is an earth shaking, powerful force, believe in it and the One who is able to effect change. Use it. Wield it like the powerful sword it is. I like this site because the posters are thinkers, but rhetoric isn't going to change what's happening in our world now. The evil is too big, too pervasive, too powerful. I don't plan on being on the losing side of these culminating events. As far as the world is concerned I'm just in their words "a useless eater", but there is one who values me as much as His own life, who loves me beyond my ability to comprehend. Who among your friends and family has or will give up their lives so you could live. Someone already has and His name is Jesus, The Great I Am. Nuclear and/or biologic war is on the near horizon. If you really want to prep, prep with Jesus. Your body is just the shell you live in now, but you have a soul that goes on living after you shed this earthly body. Where will the real you live for all eternity? Wrapped in the arms of a loving Savior or in hell with the father of all destruction and lies

Yeah. I'm really not getting all the excited giggles on one hand, gnashing of teeth on the other. Never used twitter. Peeked a few times, especially during the freedom convoy as they had some good footage. Good footage is about as valuable as it seemed to get. And Musk? Never thought about him much. Just very suspicious, as I am of everyone these days. No one is coming to save us. Today, even writers I have respected who said essentially that are batting their lashes over this guy. It's another distraction.

Ditto that, sister.

Reasonably valid commentary. But as technocrat grifters, we have a lot of people and their cronies doing a lot worse. I'll give him credit for at least rhetorically standing athwart our censorious Neo-Fascist Eugenicist Oligarchy yelling STOP. But not to worry! They will either bring him to heel, or take him down soon enough.

Thank you for the reminders. It is hard to figure the net effect of his potential takeover. We all want Twitter to freed of censorship. There would be many who would fight him on this. Google/YouTube would be threatened. The U.S. government, deep state and "Trusted Network Initiaitive" media would fight back. Blackrock and Vanguard, also major stakeholders would fight back as they have stakes in the censorship and pro pharma narratives upheld on Twitter. Didn't Musk make quite a bit of money in a short period of time buying and selling Bitcoin? The owners of Gab wrote back many counter scenarios and identified roadblocks that Musk would face that they have already conquered in part by having their own servers and cloud services. Musk could be planning ahead to utilize the future satellite network as alternative to existing options?

He came to Bitcoin very late. Within the past couple years. But he mostly pumps a meme coin called Doge, which he owns $billions of. Most of his money (on paper) was made on Tesla stock being pumped. Yes, he'll have to deal with google and apple potentially kicking twitter off their app stores among many other challenges. My guess is that satellite network is probably connected to neuralink and the US military who contract with his Space X so they can connect all of us, monitor us, follow us, track us, without us even needing phones. Possibly through some kind of injection made to look like a vaccine. Silly conspiracy theories!

I was under the impression, from reading somewhere, that 5G is very limited in its "reach," as in, it doesn't penetrate very far from the tower it emanates from... I remember that source seeming quite credible, but I don't really remember where/what it was... IF that's the case (would you know?) how can these fucking satellites be zapping us with 5G, exactly? I thought they were simply, and specifically, for surveillance? Thanks!

First, outstanding work. Some commentators might have misunderstood you as hating on Elon Musk's success rather than examining the rise and reach of the Elon Musk cult of personality, and what the likely outcomes might be.

So we have a potential billionaire savior of "free speech" who is receiving massive and largely uncritical support for potentially being a savior. This amounts to an open admission that our Constitutional Republic no longer exists, that the Bill of Rights has been effectively suspended, and that all the legal and institutional checks and balances we had put in place to protect liberty have been negated or otherwise rendered ineffective. Now, we depend on the "enlightened benevolence" of the billionaire class.

This does have more risks than many of Elon Musk's admirers seem willing to acknowledge. So I am grateful for your strong contrarian take on our current situation.

So you know this is coming, right? The objection or concern? You state: "Decentralized networks are the only solution to destroy the information monopolies that states refuse to regulate and prefer to collude with instead." Cool.

But you know that our alphabet agencies do have some infiltration with at least some of the people and groups working to establish and maintain these decentralized networks. To cite an earlier example, we know of Spooky spooks being involved with BitTorrent. Not saying it or torrent networks are useless or irredeemably compromised: not at all. Not saying things are hopeless, not at all. But just our government and some other governments do have some very smart people who work for them -- even if we never see these people on TV. So just a caution.

Second, and related point -- and as you did earlier for the blockchain (cryptocurrency currency) exchanges: please consider putting out a brief guide or overview for people who want to learn more. Where to get started, etc. I know from the comments that the readers of Good Citizen, and the participants in the forum, are not "dummies" -- so I am not calling for a "Dummies Guide" exactly. But for a novel (to many people) concern, a brief overview with links to resources might be highly useful.

All best!

Exactly. If a system requires a billionaire must restore basic human rights with his money, when he's feeling generous, what kind of system is that and what exactly is there to celebrate.

I did misread the room by not focusing on the core of the issue and too much on the man. I added an update at the start based on your keen observations. Thanks for your comment.

You are welcome, but le me add that was my observation based on the comment sections -- and not on your post itself. I think rather highly of the people who engage in conversations here. That's what it really is -- a forum of conversations, and not just isolated comments. Your ratio of trolls to people offering quality comments is shockingly low.

So if enough of these obviously intelligent, informed people have 'X" to say in response, I personally do not feel a need to agree with their judgment but I will certainly respect and consider what they are saying. Thank you for your follow up.

Yes, thanks. I was mostly referring to some emails I got. The Muskolytes are out there in high numbers and will reject any criticism of him, often reflexively going on the attack...in defense...of the richest man on the planet. lol

Sure the government will always try to get its tentacles into everything it can, especially the shadow govt. But it's difficult with a truly DAO structure if not impossible. They'd have to shut down the internet or power grids which I wouldn't put past them if they get desperate. I touched on crypto a couple months ago and will be doing more on this front soon.

I think to a large extent Elon gets amusement from making waves, even if they have little practical effect on people's lives. Tesla stock is massively overvalued, so I suppose he makes this offer for Twitter, and if its accepted, he sells his Tesla stock before it tanks to make the buy, and he gets a massive bullhorn for his ideas. If they don't accept, he sells his Twitter shares at a massive profit, which offsets the likely future drop in the Tesla stock. Either way he gets a profitable position, and doesn't look like an ass for selling either stock at a high. A bit of a gamble, but a win for Elon either way.

Elon is probably Twitter's biggest retard. He's dumb . . . a buffoon. If anyone is still on Twatter, just spend a few hours reading $TSLAQ posts by some people who've been following his exploits for the past several years. He's never invented anything, SpaceX is a fraud, and he builds cars in a tent. My hope is that all the people we think are villains are as stupid as fElon.

Why do you believe that SpaceX is a fraud? A high launch rate of the Falcon 9 is a fact, as are landings and reuse of first stage boosters. So your comment reads like the diatribe of an embittered kook.
