Tricky! As I was reading, I was thinking HEY! This is Putin’s speech!

But what boggles my mind is that in the past, liberal family members would call out things like war for oil, and big corporate, and I was a naïve patriot who thought the US could basically do no wrong. (Why did I laugh off occupy wall street?) On patriotic holidays my in laws would fly a flag which had a peace sign in the blue field instead of stars and I found it offensive.

But now, if I were to suggest that maybe the US is actually the great Satan, they’d probably threaten to have me committed. What happened?? Why do we always end up on opposite sides? And I worry that maybe I’m just falling for the latest psy op to turn me against my own country.

"In the past, liberal family members would call out things like war for oil, and big corporate." I remember those liberals. Born of the 60s. Marched against Vietnam, Iraq and Wall Street and then shit their pants over an orange fella and at the idea of getting the sniffles and then became vax and mask nazis licking the corporate state's boots while screaming about Russia nonsense. But it is the uniparty, two sides of the same coin who turned against their country and the people they were supposed to serve. Pointing that out is defending your country against their crimes committed in your country's name, with your taxes.

I loved your column, but I love this comment even more. Two loves in one post. Inane, but there it is. Can't be helped.
