We watched White Noise last night. I thought it was going to be about a toxic spill. That was a small part of it, the rest is about weird adult behaviors, and nothing to do with spills.

At least in WN, the cause of the derailment is clear, if not far-fetched. The *real* spill? Not so much. Nada. Not a peep about the cause. Maybe a train fire 20 miles behind finally exploded in E. Palestine?

I know it's just a coincidence, but that county in OH went like 71+% for Trump in 2020. Train derailment in East St. Louis? HA! Fat chance.

We live in evil times, and I'm not seeing any way out. Even FL is a bullet away from GOP Establishment control.

I'm glad I'm old...and feel sorrow for my young neices and nephews.

I feel the same for my niece and nephew. Growing up in Portlandia (not the one of your disco boogie nights pro football days) it only makes things that much more sorrowful. Their school still masks them. Parents vote and other parents don't raise yell when the neurotics vote yes.

Notice any sudden enviro-economic coincidences of spontaneous combustion in DR? I imagine it must be similar to Mexico.

Seriously: unless all other options are closed, I do not understand why Normal People choose to live in Portland or Seattle. Or, really, west of the Cascades...

A lot of the island is already an enviro-mess, so it wouldn't stand out. Heck, landfill management is a newer concept, and every car repair shop is a toxic waste Super Site. Inverter battery recyclers? You can imagine that mess...

The only thing here happening that the MSM* discusses without much truth is the potential invasion of Haiti by Canuckians and other do-gooders, villifying the "gangs" which at a distance seem like desperate "freedon fighters." when compared to corrupy oligarch corruption. Not sure how much the US will be involved.

I found an interesting link a few days ago on that subject, but won't post it here unless you ask. Your substack, not mine.

*The Good News: At least the local "MSM" here admits to bias. Every political party pretty much owns a new outlet, so if you listen and read enough with filters, you can figure out what's going on.

*The Bad News: International news here is flitered through their CNN Gods. 95% of Dominicans are clueless about stateside news and politics. They still quiver in delight at the mention of Bill Clinton and Barry Hussein.

I did hear that some 'derailment' units (i guess thats a thing?) were stolen from some railyard in the last year or so. As folks begin to see that we did all the bad stuff recently, (the norstream break, the food facility fires and now the dioxon release), I do anticipate a bigger separation in the political area between those that know and those that snow. One can hope.

My take away from the second half of the book (haven’t seen the movie) was that it was a lesson about taking experimental drugs and why we shouldn’t mess with our fear of death in an artificial way because it’s what makes us human. I read the book while listening to the movie score (Danny Elfman is my favorite musician, saw him for my birthday at the Hollywood Bowl last October, all the songs he wrote for his band Oingo Boingo have aged incredibly well and it’s the most dopaminergic music I’ve ever heard)
